Louisville Male edges out Frederick Douglass 31-28
Two top 10 teams in the state squared off Friday night in Lexington, KY as Male High School traveled to Frederick Douglass in a 6A matchup. In the first half, Male quarterback Jordan Williams was able to connect with senior star and future Louisville Cardinal Antonio Harris for 3 touchdowns. Despite the early air attack from Male, Frederick Douglass Broncos still kept the game within reach. The Broncos struggled through the air with just only 123 yards for the game but made it up with their ground attack with a couple of scores from senior running backs Peyton Smith and Pharo Watts. Frederick Douglass finished the night with a total of 220 yards rushing. Late in the 4th, Frederick Douglass trailed Male 21-31. With under 2 minutes, Broncos junior quarterback Jaxon Strautman was able to connect with senior wide receiver Aveion Chenualt for a 30 yard touchdown pass to make it 28-31. Frederick Douglass would line up for the onside kick and came very close to recovering it. Male would go on to run the clock out and improve to 5-1 on the year.
