Ryle advances to the elite 8
A 6A rematch took place in northern Kentucky Friday night against The Ryle Raiders and the St. Xavier Tigers out of Louisville. The Tigers took the home win against the Raiders earlier this year 31-24 but now it was the Ryle’s chance to get revenge on their home turf. On the very first play, Ryle’s star running back Jacob Savage who has offers from Louisville, Georgia Tech, and Indiana, sets the tone by taking it to the house for an 80 yard touchdown that gave the Raiders an early 7-0 lead. The Tigers would take over on offense and have a chance to respond to the Raiders early momentum. St. Xavier’s quarterback Mason Trimble would fumble the ball and Ryle would take over back on offense. This would setup for a 28 yard touchdown run by Raiders quarterback Nathan Verax. Ryle would go on to kick a field goal before the quarter ended giving them a 17-0 lead. Jacob Savage would go on to score two more times in the second quarter and senior wide receiver Landon Lorms would make a spectacular jump ball catch for a score. The Ryle Raiders would go into the half with a 38-3 lead and also had a running clock with just under two minutes in the second. St. Xavier’s Marion Harbin and Kyle Krupp would score two receiving touchdowns in the second half but it wasn’t enough for Ryle’s offensive attack from the first half as the Raiders would win 38-17. The Tigers would finish their season 7-5 and Ryle advances to the Elite 8. Ryle will host Central Hardin next Friday as a heavy favorite.
